Mary Evelyn Whitney

WHITNEY, Mary Evelyn, 93, of Emerson, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2014. She was born in Long Island, NY to John and Margaret Hassert. Beloved wife of the late James Whitney. Devoted mother of Patricia de Fressine and her husband Bobby and the late Barbara Whitney-Peet and her husband Ralph Peet. Dear sister of Doris Jaeger. Loving grandmother of Sarah L. Whitney-Peet, Nick Pavese, Matt Pavese, Sheryl Scherba, and Ralph Peet, II. Cherished great grandmother of Tyler and Ayden Pavese, Emily and Hannah Scherba, Andrew and Amber Peet. Mary was employed by the Emerson Board of Education where she worked in the Emerson High School cafeteria for many years. She was a parishioner of R.C. Church of the Assumption in Emerson. The family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Friday, May 23 from 4-9PM. The Funeral Mass celebrating Mary’s life and faith will be held at R.C. Church of the Assumption, Emerson, NJ on Saturday, May 24 at 10AM. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ. Memorial gifts may be made in Mary’s name to Valley Hospice, 15 Essex Road, Suite 3, Paramus, NJ 07652.
