Raymond Caronia, Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away suddenly on January 8, 2025, at his home in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. Raised in Westwood, New Jersey, Ray brought joy and laughter wherever he went, living life with boundless energy and passion.
From a young age, Ray had a deep love for automobiles, a passion that became his career when he joined Nissan. Those who knew him during his school days fondly recall his famous van, a testament to his lifelong connection to cars. When he wasn’t working on vehicles, Ray immersed himself in his hobbies, including collecting baseball cards—a tradition he proudly passed down to his son and grandson.
Ray was the heart of every gathering, known for his magnetic personality and love for music. Whether attending live shows, playing tunes on his piano, jamming with his harmonica, or singing karaoke, Ray’s zest for life was unmistakable. If there was fun to be had, Ray was always in the center of it. A true Gemini, he was a friend to all and had a remarkable gift for making connections.
Ray fulfilled his dream of living in South Carolina, cherishing the coastal lifestyle and the warmth of the community he called home. Becoming a grandfather in 2014 was one of his greatest joys, and he treasured every moment spent with his family. In retirement, Ray found happiness in the simple pleasures: relaxing on the beach, enjoying time with loved ones, and cheering on the Washington Redskins.
Ray is predeceased by his parents, Albert and Adianna Caronia.
He is survived by his children, Raymond Jr. and his wife Kimberly, and Renee and her partner Victor; his cherished grandchildren, Kaylee and Raymond; his siblings, Diane Mangam and her husband Thomas, and Michael Caronia and his wife Margaret; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who will forever remember him with love.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Becker Funeral Home in Westwood, NJ.
Ray's legacy of love, laughter, and a life lived to the fullest will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
