

Robert was born on September 3, 1938, in Manhattan, New York to parents Frank and Margaret. He grew up in Brooklyn and dedicated his life to service and family. He built a distinguished career in law enforcement, rising to the rank of Captain in the New York City Housing Police Department. His leadership and commitment to public safety left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the communities he served.
Robert was an integral part of his large extended family and loved spending time with them. He was an exceptional son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Jane; his daughters Jean Torres (and her husband Richard) and Joanne Pesce (and her husband Christopher); his son Robert Truitt; and his cherished grandchildren, Kara, Nicole, Natalie, Christina and Joshua. He is also survived by his brothers, Charles and Frank, and his sisters, Margaret and Patricia. He was predeceased by his brother Thomas and his sisters Teresa and Catherine.
Robert’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Visitation for Robert will be held Sunday, March 30, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ 07675. A Celebration of Life will occur Monday, March 31, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ 07675. A Committal Service will occur Monday, March 31, 2025 from 11:45 AM to 12:15 PM at Maryrest Cemetery & Mausoleum, 770 Darlington Ave, Mahwah, NJ 07430.
