Dear Jane. and Family I miss my big brother loved having Boband family to my home on Long Island and later in Florida He was the BEST and is sorely missed everyday I still can’t believe He is gone.

My dad was born in 1938, the second child of 8 kids. He grew up in Brooklyn, joined the New York City Housing Police Department in 1961 and rose to the rank of Captain before he retired in 1988. 
Dad was very close with his extended family and loved spending time with them. He would meet his brothers and their friends for a run in Sunken Meadow State Park. He would attend the St. Patrick's Day Parade with his siblings and their kids, and enjoyed a corned beef dinner after at his sister Peg's house. He met relatives at Coney Island Beach or Robert Moses beach for a summer swim, and loved spending a week with his kids and grandkids at the Jersey shore. He loved going to the Edwards family picnic and making everybody play a game of stickball.
He was a hands on dad. As I wrote this it kept autocorrecting to handsome, so I get the feeling he wanted me to say he was handsome too. As a kid, I remember him tucking me into bed every night. He loved to make kids laugh, and when cousins came over he would knock his head into a door, pretend the door was crying and apologize to the door to get us all laughing. When he had grandkids, they knew they could count on him to play with them, wearing him down even when he would rather be reading a crime novel or having a smoke. He would push them on the swing set, explore the yard or play on the pool table with them. He was devoted to family and taught us to be devoted to family as well.
Dad was positive to a fault. One of his favorite things to exclaim when he was happy, like eating a delicious meal, was "yes Lord, thank you Lord". Even as his strength faded, his positivity was a gift to make the days easier for those around him to handle.
Words could not convey his impact on us, and what a great man he was. If he loved you, there was nothing he would not do for you. I’m thankful every day that I was lucky enough to have him as my dad and my kids’ PopPop, and I hope he is up in heaven enjoying a Dewars and a cigar.  Love you Dad.

My favorite memories of Uncle Bobby were spending St. Patrick’s Day at my Nanas with him. I loved seeing him every year and listening to his hilarious stories. Singing Danny Boy was always such a highlight. I’ll always remember him fondly in his Irish flat cap with a cigar. Uncle Bobby was truly the best! I’ll forever cherish my memories of him and will miss him very much.

Bob was always a great big brother, he led the way  for his three younger brothers, a brother in law and neighborhood younger friends into the Police department. He always was a great example to me , he was a protector for all of his siblings and watched out for all of us. I remember as a 15 yr old and working part time as a custodian in a midtown building being let go and told I wouldn’t be paid. Bob met me at my job and went nose to nose with the boss who promptly paid me. That was Bob always a protector for his family. He loved his wife and kids and grandkids. An all around good guy who will be missed. Love you Bob ,thanks for everything. Frank
