Robert was born in New York City to Ross and the late, Nora Wilson. He was the oldest of four children. At the age of 8, he moved to Westwood, where he spent most of his life. He attended St. Andrew’s School, Bergen Catholic High School and Dominican College. He worked for many years at the Bagel Gourmet in Glen Rock and most recently Francesca's in Elmwood Park. He was loved by coworkers, customers and the entire community at both.
Robert, the #2 Sports Fan, loved watching and playing sports, especially the New York Mets and New Jersey Devils. He played softball for all his adult life in both Westwood and Dumont. On Christmas Day, he was telling us how he was the fastest runner on his team. His sports knowledge was matched by only one.
You would also find him up at Saratoga most summers playing the ponies and Bruce Springsteen concerts whenever The Boss was in town.
Robert is survived by his father Ross Wilson, brother James Wilson and his sisters Noreen Wilson, and Peggy Pav, and her husband Daniel, and his beloved nieces Nora and Erin that were his entire world. He also leaves behind many cousins and friends.
Robert’s passing is a true loss by all who knew and loved him. Services for Robert will be held at Beckers Funereal Home in Westwood on Tuesday, January 7th from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church in Westwood on Wednesday, January 8th at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow Westwood Cemetery.
