MY MOTHER KEPT A GARDEN

My Mother kept a garden,
a garden of the heart,
She planted all the good things
that gave my life it’s start.
She turned me to the sunshine
and encouraged me to dream,
Fostering and nurturing
the seeds of self-esteem…
And when the winds and rain came,
she protected me enough-
But not too much because she knew
I’d need to stand up strong and tough.
Her constant good example
always taught me right from wrong-
Markers for my pathway
that will last a lifetime long.
I am my Mother’s garden.

Heaven just got a whole lot sassier. I love you Grandma and it’s weird to think of you not being here. I know that Grandpa was waiting for you with Teaspoon on a stoop in the clouds. I hope you plant a garden with all the flowers you love and run your new angel friends ragged with all the shopping you’re going to do. MY Dear lil Mama,

It’s amazing how someone so tiny could be so big in so many ways and in many small and quiet places   ...  reaching so many people.

Thank you for letting me know what STRONG  really is and how strength will always be there because of FAITH and belief in oneself.

My GARDEN will always be full because of our special moments, your wisdom and your always letting me know that “God made me special and unique for a reason so don’t forget to dream the dream he gave you and stay on the the straight path and it will be so.”

You have always been my my fashion and makeup inspiration.  You taught me quick, simple elegance “sprezzatura”. To think it all started with your lil black cardigan, your black leather, sling back kitten heels that I loved since I was six years old and all those “lil pots of beauty” you received in the mail each month. Obviously, she created a monster with that one Ma! The pink nail polish and pink lipstick has never left me.  I’m obsessed!

I love you with words that have no end.
Mostly, I love you forever. Whenever you have reached out towards me with your little hands; you also reached out to me with your gentle BIG heart.

You no longer look  out “at” the sea. You gently breeze above it, my bathing beauty.

Miss you and may God  keep you always in the palm of his hands.

Rochelle Stocker was always a very kind, thoughtful and friendly woman.  On special holiday occasions, she always made sure to make her amazing eggplant parmesan.  Not everyone can prepare this recipe but she was a wiz at it.   She will be truly missed.  Rest In Peace.
