Rosina "Rose" Borrello, 78, of Fort Lee, New Jersey, passed suddenly on May 6, 2026. Born in Sant'Agata d'Esaro (Cosenza) Italy, she immigrated to the United States in 1966 after a handsome GI from the U.S. Army, Pasquale "Pat" Borrello, swept her off her feet in Italy. They were inseparable and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last month.
Rose left a large family in Italy to begin her American journey with Pat first in East Harlem and the Bronx but eventually settling in Fort Lee, New Jersey. Fort Lee became their "forever home" where they raised three children. Rose is survived by her husband Pat, daughters MaryAnn Virgona (James), Daniela DiStaulo, Janet Peppard (Sean) and seven grandchildren: Anthony, Christian, Nicholas, Justin, Julian, Liam and Keira, all of whom adored their Nonna/Grandma.
Visitation will be held at the Becker Funeral Home, Westwood, New Jersey, from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Church of the Madonna, Fort Lee, New Jersey on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Rose's honor to "Cliffside Park Unico" to support scholarships for Italian-American students (you can Zelle your donation to [email protected]) or to "Bergen County United Way".
