Stephen Richard Soled, 81, passed away on January 23, 2026, in Wayne, New Jersey. Steve was born and raised in the Pelham Parkway section of the Bronx to Bea and Irving Soled. He studied Chemistry at Hunter College and earned his MBA from Iona College. After beginning his career as a chemist, he transitioned to the corporate world, working at large multi-national companies including Geigy, Lehn & Fink, and Pfizer. Steve left Pfizer, where he served as Director of Marketing, to start his own ad agency, Great Images. For 30 years, he worked with the same partner through numerous iterations and reinventions.
Steve loved spending time with his family, studying history, and listening to music. With his beloved wife Lynda, he enjoyed exploring not only Europe, Asia, Australia and the United States, but also finding local cultural gems by scouring the Bergen Record. Steve was a part-time philosopher, full-time scientist, and always a storyteller. His curiosity and interests were as endless as his optimism and energy. He believed in treating people fairly and with compassion, valuing kindness and hard work above everything else.
Steve is survived by his wife, Lynda and three daughters: Liza, her husband, Steven, and granddaughter, Emi, Dena, and her husband, Jeff, and Allison. He was preceded in death by his sister, Arlene, and her husband, Ted. There will be a service on Tuesday, January 27, 2 pm, at the Becker Funeral Home in Westwood, New Jersey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s New Jersey (alznj.org). Alternatively, donations can be sent to the ASPCA (aspca.org) to help fulfill Steve’s dream of building a cat sanctuary.
May his memory be for a blessing.
