

Alberto “Bert” Roberto Vasquenz, 62, of New Britain, formerly of Hartford, loving son to Marcellina (Giannini) Vasquenz and the late Renato G. Vasquenz, peacefully passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023. Bert was born December 3, 1960 in Cerchio, L’Aquila, province of Abruzzi, Italy. Along with his mother, Bert immigrated to America at the age of three, reuniting with his father. The family settled in Hartford, where Bert attended school, graduating from Bulkeley High School, Class of 1979.
Bert worked as a printer for various companies. He was quite the artist, drawing wonderful pictures form sight and memory. His specialty was producing miniature Army figurines, such as soldiers, weapons, and machinery. In addition, he loved listening to ‘70s rock and roll and watching movies. Bert was a quiet person, as well as a great friend to many. He and his family were devout communicants of St. Augustine Church, Hartford.
Along with his mother Marcellina, Bert will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his sister, Lucia “Lucy” (Vasquenz) Figueroa; nephew, Anthony Michael Vasquenz, both of Hartford; aunt, Carmela (Giannini) Paolucci in Australia; and many special and dear friends.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects to Vasquenz family, Thursday, May 4, at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield, from 5 – 7 p.m., at which time a Prayer Service will be held with Fr. Michael DeVito officiating. Inurnment will be Friday, May 5, at 10 a.m. in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery (St. Justin Section), 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Bloomfield.
