Anna Pryshlak

With sorrow we announce the passing on March 8, 2017, of our beautiful mother and grandmother, Anna Pryshlak; born September 20, 1922 in Lisnyky, Ternopil Oblast, Ukraine, daughter of Mykhailo Greskiw and Maria (nee Yarema) Greskiw. Anna married Alexander Pryshlak in Mittenwald, Germany in 1948 and immigrated to the United States in 1950. She settled in the Hartford and Wethersfield area from 1951 through 2011, raising a family and being active in the Ukrainian American community through the church, choir, Ukrainian School, UNWLA women's league, and other activities. After losing her cherished husband, Alexander in 2011, Anna moved in early 2012 to Silver Spring, MD, where she has resided until peacefully passing into eternity at the age of 95. Anna is survived by her two devoted daughters, Marta Pryshlak Mostovych with husband Andrew Mostovych and Isha Nadia Pryshlak; two adored grandchildren, Nadia Katherine Mostovych and Nicholas Alexander Mostovych; three nieces, Daria Pryshlak and grandnephews Michael and Peter, Chrystina Farley with husband Brad Farley, and Oresta Baldassari and grandnieces Alana and Nina and great grandniece Livia; two nephews, Adrian Pryshlak with wife Mary and grandniece Alexandra and grandnephew Zachary, and Orest Sokolsky with wife Lucy and grandnephew Alex, as well as her extended family in Ukraine. In addition to her husband and parents, Anna was predeceased by her beloved son, Andrij Orest Pryshlak in 2009.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday (March 18) at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 135 Wethersfield Ave., Hartford. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Glastonbury. Calling hours will be Friday (March 17) from 5 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield with a Panakhyda Service at 6:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Anna’s name may be made to the following, or to a cause of your choice: St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church-Cemetery Fund (Hartford CT), St. Michael’s Ukrainian Parochial School (Hartford CT) or UNWLA, Inc.-Ukrainian War Victims’ Fund (New York, NY).
