Anne Mary Sheehy Coppeto, age 89 of Manchester, CT and former long term resident of Cheshire, CT. passed away on Tuesday October 12, 2021. Anne was born January 24, 1932 to the parents of Francis and Loretta Sheehy in Waterbury, CT. Anne is known by all as a giver of light and love.
She was the mother of four, and like a mother to her many nieces and nephews who will all miss her dearly. People will always remember Anne as a beautiful woman with a strong fashion sense who always dressed to impress. Anne’s beautiful blue eyes and her auburn red hair were standout features and she was every bit beautiful on the inside as well.
She grew up in Waterbury, CT with her brother Frank “Red” Sheehy and graduated near the top of her class at Crosby High School. Anne created lasting friendships in her childhood and adult years with beloved friends who to this day cherish their time with her. Everyone who knew Anne has nothing but kind words to describe what a special lady she was. Anne suffered the untimely loss of her own mother when she was 16 years old and her family takes comfort knowing that she is now reunited with her
mother (as well as her beloved father and brother) after this long separation.
As a young woman Anne enjoyed working in human resources while living in Washington DC. Later she excelled in the field of banking and as a legal secretary as well. The job she is most proud of is that of a Mother. Anne married Philip F. Coppeto of Waterbury, CT and went on to have four children. They lived in Cheshire, CT beginning in 1966. She poured her heart and soul into raising her children and providing them with a home where they felt loved. Anne is the model for unconditional love.
She leaves behind her daughter Beth Sargent of Marlborough, CT (and son in law Gary Sargent with grandchildren Colleen and Jack Sargent), son Robert Coppeto of Block Island, RI, daughter Patricia Coppeto of South Glastonbury, CT and daughter Ellen O’Neil of Charleston, SC (and son in law Brian O’Neil with grandchildren Kylie O’Neil Weaver, Mark Weaver, Megan O’Neil McCain and Brandon McCain). Her grandchildren were blessed to have abundant access to their Nana who enjoyed helping out
during their younger years and remained a constant source of love and support as they grew into young adults. Anne loved her nieces and nephews as her own children including Richard Sheehy, Beverly Sheehy Canning, Carol Sheehy Carver, Stephen Sheehy, Colleen Sheehy Lynch,Krista Mischou Rogers, Tracey Haight Carolan, Susan Haight Munson and their spouses and children.
Anne’s greatest joys in life were the simple ones; spending time with family and friends being at the top of the list. An avid reader, she also loved going to the movies, dining out, boating on Block Island, shopping, and just engaging in conversation with loved ones. She was quick to venture out whenever the opportunity arose. She enjoyed her many vacation getaways with her friends and family through the years. Anne is a woman of faith and demonstrated strength in overcoming obstacles throughout her life. Her family and friends will miss Anne tremendously, but they take comfort in knowing their mother, aunt, and friend is reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her.
The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday, October 28th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard,Wethersfield. The family will have a private burial the following morning.
