

Anne (Grano) Matteis, 93, of Avon, formerly of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Matteis, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the UCONN Health Center with her loving family by her side. Anne was born in Hartford on January 8, 1924 she was the daughter of the late Nicholas A. and Angelina (Oliveri) Grano. Anne resided in Florida for many years, she also resided on Holmes Circle in Farmington prior to moving to Florida. Anne loved to play Bingo, Scrabble and enjoyed her crossword puzzles. She will be remembered as a kind and wonderful woman by all who knew her. She is survived by her son, James Matteis of Manchester, three granddaughters that she treated as her own daughters: Dawn Secor and her husband Jason of Bristol, Jennifer Lazauski and her husband Raymond of Torrington and Lisa Radzunas of Bristol. She also leaves five great grandchildren: Madison Rose, Megan Anne, Madison Rae, Jesse Garrett and Lucas Jackson and her brothers, Tony Grano and his wife Annie and Roger Grano along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Anne was predeceased by her siblings, Albert Grano, Nicholas A. Grano and Joseph J. Grano, Sr., Victor E. ""Manny"" Grano, Rose Drena and Nancy Tarquinio. Funeral services for Anne will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 9:15 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Avenue, Hartford. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
