Antonio was born in Sepino, Italy to the late Nicola and Filomena (Parente) Cusano. Immigrating first to Montevideo, Uruguay and then to West Hartford, CT, he and his wife were fundamental in establishing the Cusano roots in the United States. A mechanic by trade, Antonio worked at Heublein Inc. for 37 years to help provide for his growing family. He was an honorable man of many talents and hobbies-- an avid gardener, master craftsman, and longtime member of the Mt. Carmel St. Cristina Italian Society. He particularly enjoyed spending winters at his home in Port Charlotte, FL, where he could often be found hosting outdoor barbecues with close friends and loved ones. A true family man, he was a devout son, loving husband, and selfless father, who loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Throughout his lifetime, Antonio’s contagious smile and charming demeanor allowed him to make friends easily. He was the ultimate companion and made everyone feel so loved when around him. His presence will be deeply missed but the endless memories shared with him will live on forever.
Antonio is survived by his beloved wife, Matilde, whom he was happily married to for 59 beautiful years. He is also survived by his sons, Roberto Cusano and his wife Maria of Avon, CT, and Edward Cusano and his fiancé, Lisa Ciampa of Boca Raton, FL; his dearest grandchildren who affectionately knew him as “Nonno,” Antonio Cusano and his wife, Brielle, Joseph Cusano and his wife Carmen, Alexia Cusano, Nicholas Cusano, and Matthew Cusano; his precious great grandson, Antonio Cusano; his sisters-in-law, Nelly and Teresa Cusano; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers, Giovanni and Angelo Cusano.
