Assunta Racana, 93, of Rocky Hill, beloved wife of the late Michele Racana, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2021. Assunta was born on September 25, 1927 in Corleto Perticara, Province of Potenza, Italy and was the daughter of the late Francesco and Anna Maria (Magaldi) Demma. She was an avid gardener and an amazing cook. She was a loving wife and a wonderful mother, devoting her life to her family.
She will be sadly missed by her three sons, Frank Racana of Wethersfield, Michael Racana of Wethersfield and Vincenzo Racana of Rome, Italy; two daughters, Vincenzina Racana and her husband Fadi Abdallah of Manlius, NY and Maria Racana of Portland, OR; two grandchildren, Michael and Diana Abdallah and two sisters, Sister Consolata Demma, MSC of Dobbs Ferry, NY and Giuseppina Gisonte of Corleto Perticara, Italy. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Rosa Lavieri.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday (September 10th) at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. In accordance with local mandates, masks will be required indoors. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday (September 11th) at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to please meet directly at the church. Entombment will follow at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
