Concetta “Connie”, aka “Tina” most recently (Martinelli) Tomaino, 87, of Wethersfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, August 30, 2024. She was the beloved wife of Agostino “Tony” Tomaino for 50 years. She was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Anna (Esposito) Martinelli, and Palma Martinelli.
Connie was born in Lettomanopello, Pescara, Abruzzo, Italy. She immigrated to the US with her family on Christmas Eve 1955. Connie was a loving and nurturing mother to her children and grandchildren, and she loved feeding all of the Fairlane Drive neighborhood kids. During WWII, her Mom passed away while her father was serving in the Italian Army, and she helped her grandmother cook/care for her siblings. After her father returned and remarried, she helped raise three additional siblings. Connie was very creative. One of her greatest passions was cooking for and teaching her children and grandchildren crafts and her family recipes. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting and various other hobbies. Prior to immigrating, she attended pattern-making school in Pescara and later worked as a seamstress before she was married. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and later with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Young Italians and Incarnation Women’s Clubs.
She leaves her loving family: daughters Anna Savic (Michael) and Joanna Piscitello (Allen); son Anthony Tomaino; four granddaughters: Talia Savic Hitt (Peter), Marisa Savic Song (David), Amanda and Jamie Piscitello, as well as two great-granddaughters.
Connie is also survived by her brothers, Camillo Martinelli and Joseph Martinelli (Mary), sisters Lidia Nubile (Sergio) and Anna Cane (Tony). She was predeceased by her brother Raymond Martinelli (Min) and sister-in-law Lucia Martinelli. Connie also leaves many nieces, nephews, dear friends and her sisters-in-law; Helen Tomaino and Marie Mammone (John).
Her family would like to thank Medista and her care team at Brookdale Chatfield (Clare Bridge) for the wonderful compassion shown to Tina and her family over the past three years.
