Deolinda “Linda” (Rosa) Cecere, beloved wife of the late Anthony M. Cecere, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home Sunday, January 17, 2016, with her family and devoted caregiver by her side. She was the daughter of the late Silvino and Maria (Marto) Rosa. Born in Mira de Aire, Portugal, Linda lived in Wethersfield for most of her life. She worked for the State of Connecticut in her earlier years and, after raising her children, she worked for the Wethersfield Board of Education. She volunteered for and delivered Meals on Wheels and was a daily communicant of the Church of the Incarnation. Her greatest love was her beloved family. Her husband, Tony, was the love of her life, and they remained infinitely devoted to each other for 52 years. Tony predeceased her in 2013, but he brought love, happiness, and joy to her life every day. They adored one another and dedicated their lives to each other and their family. The home that they built together in Wethersfield was the center of many happy gatherings with family and friends over the years. Linda was very active in the lives of her children, volunteering at the school PTO, attending numerous baseball games and school functions, and planning magical birthday parties each year for her children when they were young. She was a devoted mother to her children and was a loving grandmother. Linda was a kind, thoughtful, and generous person, cultivating deep and meaningful friendships during her life. She was blessed with a close extended family and had an enduring and loving relationship with her five sisters-in-law and her brother-in-law. They spent many years together enjoying birthdays, holiday celebrations, and family vacations. Linda cherished the many happy summer weeks she spent at Hawks Nest Beach with her family. She spent her time selflessly caring for those around her and had a smile for everyone she met. Linda always lent a helping hand to others and was the first in the neighborhood to welcome a new family with a homemade meal. She was a role model for living kindly and unselfishly. Full of life, she was at her happiest loving and supporting her family and friends. She cherished her devoted caregiver of 12 years, Angie Smith, who gave so selflessly in order to ensure that Linda was cared for in every way. Angie is living proof that angels do exist. Linda’s family and friends will remember her for her warm heart and loving nature, her beautiful smile, and her heartfelt compassion. She will be greatly missed, and her legacy will live on in all of the people she touched. Linda is survived by a son, Ronald Lopes and his wife JoAnn of South Windsor, a son John Cecere and his wife Robin of Glastonbury, a daughter Teresa Copeck and her husband Michael of South Glastonbury, and four loving grandchildren, Bobby and Danny Cecere and Christopher and Timmy Copeck.
Funeral services and burial are private and at the convenience of the family. The D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, Wethersfield is assisting the family with arrangements. To share a memory of Linda with her family, please visit www.desopo.com.
