Emanuel Anastasios Makiaris

Manny was born on February 19, 1941, in Hartford. He was the son of the late Anastasios and Maria (Efthimiou) Makiaris. Manny proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged. He earned a bachelor's degree from UCONN and remained forever dedicated to his alma mater. Manny worked as a Systems Analyst for Aetna Life and Casualty, retiring after many years of dedicated service.

In addition to being a fan of UCONN sports, Manny loved the Boston Red Sox and was a Hartford Whalers season ticket holder. He enjoyed woodworking, sailing, astrology, Boy Scouts, but most of all, Manny was a devoted family man. He was especially happy spending time with his cherished grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Irene, Manny sadly leaves his children; Lynn Makiaris Brown (Mark), and Matthew Makiaris (Brenda), his grandchildren; Davis Brown, Carson Brown, Jamie Makiaris, and Mara Makiaris. He also leaves his brothers John Makiaris (Madeleine) and James Makiaris (Linda Evans), along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many friends, including the Giants Neck Beach community.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, July 8 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. A Trisagion Service will be held 5 p.m. A service will be held on Wednesday, July 9 at 11 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 433 Fairfield Avenue, Hartford. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the Cathedral. Burial will be private.
