Evelina Maria (Cianfaglione) Tedeschi, 87, of Hartford, beloved wife for 67 years of Giuseppe G. Tedeschi, passed away peacefully with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, January 29, 2016. Born on September 29, 1928 in Pratola Peligna, province of L’Aquila, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Franco and Ersilia (DiPillo) Cianfaglione. The Tedeschi family came to America in 1960 from Italy and settled in Hartford, where Evelina and Giuseppe have lived for the past 56 years. The many Sunday dinners were always a delight at nonna’s house; she was a fabulous cook and her grandchildren would often bring friends to taste the best pasta in the world. Evelina also made her delicious Italian cookies for all occasions and this is what made her happiest. She was always joking with her grandchildren and was always willing to help anyone in need. In addition to her devoted husband Giuseppe, Evelina leaves her two children, Rinaldo Tedeschi and wife Diane of Avon and Lolita Sobieski and husband Garry of Guilford; her five adored grandchildren who will miss their nonna but will cherish their many fond memories, Marcello Tedeschi and wife Diana, Paul Tedeschi and wife Julie, Gregory Tedeschi and wife Sabrina, Danielle Mill and husband Daniel and Dominique Sobieski and her three cherished great-grandsons who were the light of her life, James, David and Max. She will also be sadly missed by her brothers, Luigi Cianfaglione and wife Bianca, Attilio Cianfaglione and wife Emma of Hartford and Quintino Cianfaglione and wife Marcella of Wethersfield; her sisters-in-law, Ermelinda Tedeschi and Maria D’Andrea, along with brother-in-law, Mario Tedeschi who were all very close to Evelina, as well as her many nieces and nephews, who were always a very important part of her life. She was predeceased by two brothers, Giovanni and Salvatore Cianfaglione and one sister, Nunziatina Liberatore. We will always miss the love, laughter and food. Thank you mom, nonna and zia for all the life lessons; you were the best. We would like to thank the kind and very caring nurses and aides at Hebrew HealthCare, along with the outstanding staff at Masonicare and Dr. Frank Detterbeck at Yale-New Haven Hospital for his care and compassion.
Family and friends may call on Monday (February 1) from 4-7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. Funeral services will begin Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the funeral chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, 494 New Britain Ave., Hartford.
