

Barton ""Bart"" Bacon, 75, of Cromwell, passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Rocky Hill Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center after a courageous fight against cancer. He was born January 1, 1935 in Hartford, son of the late, Fred and Alice (Fenton) Bacon, and had lived in West Hartford for many years before moving to Cromwell. Before his retirement, Bart was the owner of Barton Exterminating in West Hartford for over thirty years and prior to that he owned Parkville Novelty Store in Hartford. Bart was known for his many friends and how he always had a story or joke to tell. He also enjoyed cooking for friends and family. He was passionate about sports, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. Bart was an avid fisherman which included introducing his grandchildren to his favorite pastime. He is survived by a daughter, Cherie Doherty and her husband Robert of Cromwell; three sons, Stephen and his wife Janet of West Hartford, Kevin of Willimantic, Christopher and his wife Christine of Kensington, and his niece Julie Hines of East Hartford. He also leaves eight grand-children, Stephanie Beard, Tyler Doherty, Stephen Bacon Jr., Nicholas Bacon, Kevin Bacon, Paul Bacon, Michael Bacon, and Matthew Bacon, and one great grand-daughter, Skyler Marie Bacon. He also leaves a special friend, Maxine Cersosimo. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia (Bacon) Hines. Bart's family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the entire staff at Rocky Hill Healthcare who provided excellent care and compassion. Calling hours will be Tuesday (December 21, 2010) from 4 pm to 7 pm at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. Burial will be private.
