Floyd Arthur Nickerson

Floyd Arthur Nickerson, 85, of Hickory, NC, passed away on Tuesday, (January 22, 2008) at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory. Born on December 25, 1922, in East Hartford, he was the son of the late Lester and Nellie (Whipple) Nickerson. Mr. Nickerson was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Corp of Engineers and had worked as a safety inspector for Aetna Insurance Company. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Rita (Rivoire) Nickerson, and two sisters, Marge Zenzie and Lorraine Bragg. He leaves here on earth, a daughter, Tammy Mumford and her husband Philip of Taylorsville, NC; his 12 year old granddaughter Cassie Mumford; a son Arthur Nickerson and his wife Marcia of Williamsville, NY; a brother Ernest Nickerson of Manchester; and many extended family members and friends in both Connecticut and North Carolina; and a beloved cat Whistle. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, in the chapel at D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield, with the Rev.Dr.J. Jey Deifell officiating.
