George H. Ramsey

George H. Ramsey, 89, of Springfield, MA, died April 11, 2010 surrounded by his loving family members. He was born March 4, 1921, son of the late George and Fannie Ramsey. George and his late wife, Eileen Catherine (Nix) Ramsey, lived for many years in Springfield and Agawam, MA before moving to Connecticut, then finally settled in Fort Meyers, FL where they resided from 1986-2005. George served his country in both the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, and in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, retiring as a reservist with the rank of Lt. Colonel. Besides his late wife of 61 years, Eileen, George was predeceased by a son, Paul W. Ramsey. He leaves behind two sons, David G. Ramsey of Monson, MA and Alan F. Ramsey of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren: Lisa Ramsey of Palmer, MA, Laurie Tyburski and her husband, Kenneth, of Monson, MA, Aja Riesberg and her husband, Jaimie, of Colorado Springs, CO, Kristin Garrison and her husband, William, of Columbia, CT, and Jason Ramsey of Brooklyn, CT; and four great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Thursday April 15, 2010 at 12p.m. at the D?Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield, CT. Calling hour will be one hour prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill, CT.
