

Gerard J. LaChapelle, 81, formerly of Cedar Street, Newington and Broad Street, Hartford, loving husband of Dolores E. (LaPiano) LaChapelle for over 60 years, died Friday, September 24, 2010 at Middlesex Memorial Hospital. He was born in Hartford, March 3, 1929 and was the son of the late Rudolph and Yvonne (LaFrance) LaChapelle. He was in the upholstery business retiring many years ago. Gerard was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, he enjoyed fishing and going to the beach but most of all spending time with his grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia A. Drew, a brother, Louis and two sisters, Maryella and Theresa. Besides his wife he is survived by a son Robert LaChapelle of Portland, brothers, Rudolph and Andrew and sisters, Yvonne, Rosanne and Noella. His loving grandchildren, who affectionately called him, “Grampy” Daniel, Brian, Stephen, Jeffrey and Erin and 3 great grandchildren, Hannah, Lauryn and Jonathan. Funeral service will be Tuesday (September 28) at 10:15 am at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook blvd. Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Avenue, Hartford. The burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
