Gilbert Henry Hanson

Gilbert Henry Hanson, 86, of Wethersfield, beloved husband for 65 years of Patricia (Gorman) Hanson, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 20, 2016. Born in Providence, RI on November 18, 1929, he was the son of the late Henry and Edna (Marsh) Hanson. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. Gilbert was an accountant and the owner of G.H. Hanson Associates. He was a fan of the UCONN women’s basketball team and the New York Giants. A lifelong golfer, he was a longtime member of the Wethersfield Country Club and was also an avid dancer. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Gilbert will be dearly missed by his devoted wife Patricia; two children, Gary Hanson and wife Laura of Wethersfield and Karen Pacholski and husband Edward of Colchester and his four adored grandchildren, Nicholas and Audrey Hanson and Heather and Kristine Pacholski. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Allenson of Central Falls, RI, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church. Burial with military honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
