

Giovanni Carducci, 77, of Newington, beloved husband for 51 years of Anna Maria (Santangelo) Carducci, passed away peacefully on Monday (July 30, 2012) with his loving family by his side. Born on Dec. 29, 1934 in Pratola Peligna, province of Aquila, Italy, he was the son of the late Marino and Felicia (DeSimone) Carducci. Giovanni worked for Wiremold in West Hartford as a machine operator for 28 years. He was a member of the Pratolana M.B. Society of Hartford and a longtime faithful communicant of the Church of St. Mary in Newington. He loved spending time in his garden, growing tomatoes and peppers, as well as making sauce and homemade wine. More than anything, however, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his loving wife Anna Maria, he is survived by his three devoted sons, Angelo Carducci of Dallas, TX, Mauro Carducci and his wife Aida of Rocky Hill and Marco Carducci and his wife Michal of Farmington; his five cherished grandsons, Anthony, Andrew, Kevin, Kyle, and Dominic Carducci; and his two ""princesses,"" his granddaughters, Amanda and Gianna Carducci. He is also survived by his brothers, Panfilo Carducci and his wife Delfina and Vincenzo Carducci, all of Newington; his sister, Giuseppina Zavarella and her husband Vincenzo of Italy, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Maria Carducci.
Funeral services will begin on Thursday at 9 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of St. Mary, 626 Willard Ave., Newington. Entombment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
