Hiram Colon Mendoza

Born on March 9, 1952, in Hartford, CT, Hiram was the beloved son of Ana Mendoza Hernandez and the late Gilberto Colon Rivera. He was a vibrant and jovial soul, often surrounded by family and friends. Hiram had a deep passion for music and loved to play various instruments, including the vibes, guitar, and percussion. His greatest joy came from spending time with his children and grandchildren, whom he adored immensely.

Hiram is lovingly remembered by his son, Hiram Colon of Wethersfield, and his daughters, Natacha Shelton of Broad Brook, Shirley Colon of Newington, and Ex-Wife Jacqueline Flores of East Hartford. He was a devoted grandfather to Luis Alvarado, Hiram Colon III, Marc Anthony Colon, Damaris Sasha Miller, Dante Shelton, Davante Shelton, and Jenise Faith Vega, and a cherished great-grandfather to Jayla Marie Colon, Anthony Colon, and Issac Colon.

He is also survived by his siblings, Gilberto Colon, Myra Rodriguez, William Mahoney, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends both in Connecticut and Puerto Rico. Hiram was predeceased by his brothers, Ralph and Richard Colon.

The Colon Mendoza family invites relatives and friends to gather to celebrate Hiram’s life on Friday, April 4, 2025. There will be an hour of visitation from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m., followed by a Prayer Service officiated by Pastor Daniel Johnson at 5:00 p.m. Hiram will be laid to rest with family at a later date.

Hiram will be dearly missed, but his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
