Jeane House, 85, of Wethersfield, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday (November 11, 2012) surrounded by her loving family. Raised in Hartford, she was the only daughter of five children born of the late Carl and Elsie Kask. Jeane was predeceased by her brothers, Richard and Robert; sister-in-law, Eileen and nephew, Robert Jr. She was a 1945 graduate of Bulkeley High School, and both President and Secretary of her chapter, Beta Sigma Phi. As a Media Center Specialist for the Wethersfield Board of Education, Jeane enjoyed her role working with children in the media centers at Emerson Williams, Hanmer, Charles Wright and Webb Junior High School retiring from the Highcrest Elementary School in 1993. One of Jeane's greatest joys was spending summers with family at Otis Reservoir. With the women in charge of summer activities and Jeane at the helm of the boat - all the children learned to water-ski and swim. Fishing, blueberry picking and spirited games of PIG, Cribbage and Kick the Can were enjoyed by all. Jeane was a talented seamstress tailoring hundreds of dance outfits for recitals and sewing clothing for her four granddaughters. Most of all, she enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends. Monday night was infamously known as spaghetti night at ""Auntie Jeane's."" She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Kenneth and two brothers, Frederick Kask and wife Patricia and Carl Kask and wife Rosemary. In addition, she is survived by her three daughters, Susan Marino and her husband Albert of Wethersfield, Pamela House of Newington, Karen Appleton and husband David of Reading, VT and her four beloved granddaughters, Elizabeth, Grace, Sarah and Lindsay, six nieces and nephews Eileen Kask, Richard Kask, Frederick Kask and wife Donna, James Kask and wife Sharon, Leslie Zamer and husband Scott, David Kask, April Eisman and husband Grant Arndt, and several great nieces and nephews. The family wants to extend their sincerest gratitude to the dedicated and compassionate caregivers Sofya, Rosa and Colette, the Hartford VNA and many Hartford Hospital friends and colleagues for the loving support over the last few years.
