

John L. ""Jack"" Sullivan, Jr., 85, beloved husband of Rosa Jane (Reynolds) Sullivan, died Friday September 12, 2014 at home on Cape Cod after a courageous battle with cancer. Jack was born on August 20, 1929 in Milwaukee, WI to the late John L. Sullivan, Sr. and Eleanor (Koegel) Sullivan. He was a graduate of Hartford Public High School (1948) and University of Hartford (Hillyer College) 1952. He was a U. S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War and retired from Aetna Life & Casualty after 42 years. Upon retirement he spent many happy years on Cape Cod and winters in Florida. He loved gardening and wood working, the Red Sox and bicycling also boating and loved reading books, especially history. Besides his wife of 61 years Rosa (Reynolds) Sullivan, Jack leaves three children; two daughters, Patricia Lombardo and her husband Paul of Wethersfield and Karen Arseneault and her husband Scott of Marlborough; a son, John Sullivan, III and his wife Cindy of Wethersfield; a brother, Jerome Sullivan and his wife Jane of Glastonbury; a sister-in-law, Ellen Flynn and her husband Jim of Enfield. In addition he leaves four grandchildren, Brendan, Christopher and Lindsay Sullivan and Matthew Cusano and six nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers Thomas and James Sullivan. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday (September 17) at 10:00 am at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church. Burial, with military honors, will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield, CT 06109.
