

Joseph John Kowalczyk, 88, of Wethersfield, beloved husband of the late Jane (Banas) Kowalczyk, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2024. Joseph was born on December 22, 1935 in Hartford and was the son of the late Bronislaw and Antonina (Brzozowa) Kowalczyk. He was a graduate of the Hartford Public School System, following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was honorable discharged after three years of service. Joseph worked for Chandler Evans Control Systems, a division of Colt Industries where he tested fuel control systems. He retired at 62 after thirty-five years of dedicated service.
Joseph and Jane were married in June 1961 and lived in Hartford before moving to Wethersfield. They enjoyed 30 years together raising their family. They enjoyed family vacations at the various Westerly Rhode Island beaches where they ultimately purchased a home. Joseph loved watching and listening to Red Sox games, UConn Basketball, playing cards with friends and family, a trip to the casino was always a fun time for him. He frequently golfed at Goodwin Park, enjoying the company of other golfers. Joseph was a animal lover but most important to him was his family, especially his beautiful grandchildren.
Sadly Joseph leaves his son Steven Kowalczyk and his wife Lisa and his daughter Jennifer Kowalczyk, her dog Sammie along with his cherished grandchildren, Jack Kowalczyk and Katherine Kowalczyk. Joseph also leaves several relatives and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, Joseph was predeceased by his sisters, Adela Raczka and Janice Curran.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, March 7th from 4 to 6
p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. The funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Avenue, Hartford. Burial will follow at Mt. Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
