Louise Magaldi

Louise M. (Vona) DePaolis Magaldi, 93, of Rocky Hill and formerly Hartford, beloved wife of the late Salvatore DePaolis and the late John Magaldi, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 5, 2018. Born in Hartford on January 7, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Candito and Christina (Scarcella) Vona and had lived in the area all her life. She was a graduate of Bulkeley High School in Hartford and worked for many years and retired from the Travelers Corporation. Louise was a communicant of St. James Church and a member of the Rocky Hill Senior Center. She had a beautiful singing voice and was part of the Senior Center singing group. She also enjoyed reading, cooking and keeping a meticulously clean house. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Louise will be forever missed by her three children, Christine Lewis and husband James of South Windsor, Diane Bengston and husband Timothy of Rocky Hill and Peter DePaolis and wife Karen of Fairfax Station, VA; eight adored grandchildren, Tracy Lewis, Kimberly Lewis and husband Konrad Graser, Scott Bengston and wife Megan, Ryan Bengston and fiancé Libby Martel, Peter Joseph DePaolis, Diana DePaolis and husband Paulo Gouveia, Stephanie Steinmetz and husband Daniel and Katherine Louise DePaolis and three cherished great-grandchildren, Isis, Ada and Quinten Graser. She is also survived by several beloved nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Monday (January 8) from 8:30 – 11:00 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon at St. Josephine Bakhita Parish at St. James Church, 767 Elm St., Rocky Hill. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Donations in Louise’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
