

Margaret 'Peg' Louise (Carlson) Jacobson, 89, of Cromwell died Saturday (August 15, 2009). Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Edith (Olson) and Adolf Carlson. Margaret married Arnold A. Jacobson on December 5, 1941, two days before Pearl Harbor. They had two sons, William Arnold August and Keith Richard. She lived over 50 years in Old Wethersfield before moving to Covenant Village in 2003. Margaret's first job was with her father's business, the Adolf Carlson Agency in New Britain. She ran the business after her father's death while her brothers served in WWII. In 1969 she purchased the Wethersfield Bookstore on the Silas Deane Highway and personally managed it until she retired in 1990. For many years after she could not go anywhere without being asked 'Aren't you the lady from the bookstore?' She was an active member of the First Church of Christ, Wethersfield. She was a long time member and leader of the Art Appreciation Group. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed Sweden and Togue Pond in Maine. She was proud of her family history and wrote a book about it called 'Remembering the Old Country and the New Americans.' In addition to her son Keith, she is survived by his wife Katherine Michaelian, her grandson Kenneth August Jacobson, and two generations of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Arnold, her son William, and her brothers Clifton, Alden, and Adolf Graham Carlson. A memorial service will be held September 19 at 11 a.m. at the First Church of Christ, 250 Main Street Wethersfield. A private burial will be held in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield.
