Maria G. Sousa, 82, of Wethersfield, passed away on Tuesday (January 19, 2010). She was born on November 12, 1927, in Sobral Monte Agraco, Portugal, deaf and mute, to the late Joao Jorge and Maria O. (Sousa) Jorge and came to the United States in 1976. Maria worked at Lerner Furs for 12 years. She is survived by her brother Antonio Jorge and his wife Maria of West Hartford; her sister Idalina Nazare and her husband Jose of Wethersfield; and her nieces and nephews, Susan Reynolds, Judy Nazare, Michael Nazare, Lina Somma and John Jorge. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, January 22, at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 40 Fatima Square, Hartford. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Calling hours are Friday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
