Marie (Gallo) Miano, 89, beloved wife of the late Concetto ""Jack"" Miano, passed away peacefully at her Wethersfield home on Monday (March 5, 2012) with her son by her side. Marie was born in Hartford on July 5, 1922, the daughter of the late Paul S. and Helen (DePasquale) Gallo and resided in Wethersfield most of her life. She graduated from Mount Saint Joseph Academy in West Hartford. Marie was married to her beloved husband for 55 years. They truly adored one another. Their mutual admiration and respect could be discerned in so many ways, especially when her husband would gently take her hand and quietly recite poems of love to her in his native Italian. She was a communicant of Corpus Christi Church in Wethersfield. Among her fondest memories was her participation with her husband in the church holiday bazaars. She was known in those days for her attention to fashion and her interest in millinery, making many of her own hats. Marie was a member of the Daughters of Queen Marguerite for many years. Throughout her lifetime, she dedicated her efforts to provide a loving home for her family. She was a housewife and mother and was determined to be the very best at each. In 1990, her husband Jack suffered a debilitating stroke which left him unable to eat, speak or walk. Despite professional advice to the contrary, Marie insisted that her husband remain in the family home in her care with assistance. She completely and selflessly dedicated herself to the care and comfort of her husband. Despite her husband's severe limitations, he was fully cognizant and appreciative for the ensuing years they shared. For seven years she kept him engaged, smiling and grateful for the precious time they spent together. She spoke to him constantly, held his hand, offered him encouragement and made his remaining days on earth a time of extended love. They resided in Wethersfield and enjoyed observing the changes of the seasons at their Groton Long Point cottage before he predeceased her in 1997. Marie truly and selflessly dedicated her life to being a devoted and caring wife and mother and friend and a source of joy and admiration to all with whom she came in contact. Always ready with a smile and warm words of encouragement and understanding, she demonstrated remarkable strength and compassion in supporting her family and friends in many facets of their lives. Marie is survived by her devoted son, Judge Thomas P. Miano of Hartford; her brother and his wife, Blaize and Theresa Gallo of New Britain; her niece, Mary Ann Gallo of Sturbridge, MA; her nephew, Paul B. Gallo of Goshen and many beloved cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Salvatore P. Gallo and Paul S. Gallo, Jr.
