
Mary E. (Salvatore) Corona, 89, of Wethersfield and Palm Beach Gardens, FL, beloved wife for 58 years of the late Vincenzo ""Jim"" Corona, passed away peacefully on Monday, (May 20, 2013) following a short illness. Born in Hartford on June 20, 1923, Mary was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (Sanzo) Salvatore. Mary worked alongside her husband as the secretary for the family business, Corona's Auto Parts in Hartford, for many years. She was a longtime faithful communicant of the Church of the Incarnation in Wethersfield. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, her family was her pride and joy. Mary enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners for her family. She looked forward to Christmas Eve each year. She would prepare a traditional Christmas feast and loved having her family around her. She never missed a sporting event or school activity that any of her grandchildren were involved in. Prior to Jim's death in 2007, they enjoyed many winters in Florida and many wonderful family vacations in Europe and the Caribbean. Mary was an avid Boston Red Sox and UCONN Women's basketball fan. She is survived by her three devoted children, Jim Corona and his wife Beth, Patrick Corona and Janis Mason and her husband Arnie, all of Wethersfield; her five adored grandchildren, Jonathan Corona, Allison Corona, and Matthew Mason and his wife Alexa, Michael Mason and his wife Lauren and David Mason; and her cherished great-grandson, Jack Corona; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was predeceased by three brothers, Victor, Chester and Angelo Salvatore.
Funeral services will begin on Friday at 9 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Incarnation, Wethersfield. Entombment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
