Mary (Franzo) Tata

Mary (Franzo) Tata, 89, of Wethersfield, beloved wife for 65 years of the late Giuseppe “Joseph” Tata, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 with her loving family by her side. Born in Siracusa, Italy on April 15, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Lucia (Floridia) Franzo. Mary was a graduate of Hartford Public High School and worked for Marino Brothers Flooring and Aetna Life & Casualty. She was a founding member of the South End Ladies Democratic Club in Hartford, and also belonged to the Floridian Society, the Sons of Italy and the Italian American Stars Ladies Club. She enjoyed reading, playing Bingo, the casinos and attending the Church of the Incarnation, where she was a longtime, faithful communicant. She was a wonderful cook, and loved to entertain family and friends.

A loving and dedicated mother and grandmother, Mary will be forever missed by her three children, Elaine R. Tata of South Yarmouth, MA, Sebastian P. Tata and wife Susan of Wethersfield and Joseph Tata, Jr. and wife Donna of Windsor and Lake Worth, FL and her four adored grandchildren, Brianna Tata, Bianca Tata, and Joseph Tata, III and Nicholas Russell. She is also survived by her sister, Linda DiNovella and husband Anthony of Rhode Island and her sister-in-law, Tina (Tata) Petrissi, as well as many dear nieces, nephews and extended family members. Family and friends may call on Friday, September 9 from 4-7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 10 at 12 p.m. at the Church of Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Donations in Mary’s memory may be made to the Church of the Incarnation.
