Max Parker Maffucci, 30, of Brooklyn, NY and formerly Wethersfield, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday morning, September 3, 2024. His parents, Linda Wildes and Michael Maffucci, his brother Alex Maffucci and the love of his life, Ashley Britton, were by his side during his last days after a valiant battle with cancer.
Max was born on July 22, 1994 and grew up in Wethersfield, where he graduated from Wethersfield High School. He attended Central CT State University, earning a B.A. in Graphic Design. His love for graffiti, art, music and skateboarding gave him a rich cultural palette, molding him into the man he was. Max moved to Brooklyn, NY four years ago, where he excelled in every facet of his life. He established his own business, Max Maffucci Designs, and designed the PRKR label for his line of skateboard and street apparel and accessories. Max was active in the skateboarding community in his hometown as well as in New Haven and in Brooklyn, NY. He had a wonderful group of friends that he cherished and he became an inspiration to them during his last days. Max also played hockey from the time he was five years old throughout high school and college, and he remained close to his hockey friends and families whose love was unwavering throughout his short life.
Max's final wish was to move back to his hometown of Wethersfield to be in the town he loved close to family and friends. Everything was set for his return and he was strong until the end, but he never made it back. Max fought cancer with grace and dignity and never gave in or lost hope. He had a zest for life that was unparalleled and his kind and gentle spirit will remain with all who knew and loved Max.
Max is survived by his mom, Linda Wildes of Punta Gorda, FL ; his dad, Michael Maffucci and wife Kate of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; his loving brother, Alex Maffucci and partner Kaitlyn Peters of West Hartford; his grandmother, Theresa Maffucci of Newington; his aunts and uncles, Mary and Clinton VanderLinden; Sarah and Paul Fournier: James and Tina Maffucci: Roseanne Ceferatti; John Maffucci; Doretta Wildes and Michael Satagaj; step-sisters, Nicole Manila Parheco, Jennifer Hill and Jaclyn Pereira and his many beloved cousins. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Bernard Maffucci and his grandparents, Emily and Warren Wildes.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 11 from 2-5:30 p.m. concluding with a Memorial Service at 5:30 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. A Celebration of Life will follow the services at the Keeney Center, 200 Main Street, Wethersfield. Burial will be private.
