Michael Salvatore Montineri

30 May, 195623 April, 2021

Michael Salvatore Montineri, 64, of Newington, passed away unexpectedly on April 23, 2021 at his home. Michael was born on May 30, 1956 in Hartford and was the son of the late Salvatore and Lorraine (Cerasoli) Montineri. Growing up, Mike’s fondest memories were made alongside his father. The years that he spent working at his father’s service station taught him invaluable lessons. He would recall those memories often with his children and sister. Growing up, he shared Sunday dinners and summer trips to the beach with his family and extended family members. The memories were always so special and Michael was always fond of those happy times. Mike retired from the Henry James Memorial Middle School, where he worked for many years as a school custodian. When his children were younger, Michael loved to take them on the weekends to local flea markets and tag sales, always hunting for treasures. He was a great father and family man, being with his children and grandchildren meant the world to him. He could be quickly found playing with his children, nieces and nephews. He is survived by a son, Michael Montineri of Middletown and his fiancé Melissa Poulin, a daughter Michelle Montineri and her longtime partner Akeen Bryan of West Hartford along with his five grandchildren that were his pride and joy, Tayvion-Vito Bryan, Keynija-Sky Bryan, Brayvont Bryan, Savannah Montineri and Salvatore Michael Montineri. He also leaves his sister Mary DeBellis and her husband Rick of West Hartford along with several nieces and nephews who shared a loving bond and friendship with him throughout their lives. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday (May 4th) at St. Brigid’s Church/St.Gianna Parish,1088 New Britian Avenue, West Hartford. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 – 6 p.m. on Monday (May 3rd) for a “walk through” visitation at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. Family and friends are asked to please maintain social distancing and mask wearing guidelines. Memorial Donations may be made to Food Share Inc., P.O. 1320, Hartford, CT 06101-9962. Mike was a wonderful guy who I got to know when I first started teaching at Henry James. We had many laughs together as well as eating pieces of chocolate at the end of the school day. Mike always came in to say hello and asked how I was doing. He will be missed. . My thoughts and prayers are with his family. my deepest sympathy, Debbie

To Michael’s Family,
I’m so saddened to hear of Michael’s passing, I had the pleasure of his company walking to and from Batchelder School a few times, and then working up at Newington Children’s Hospital. Great guy, and so proud of his twins!
