

Nella (Giarratano) D'Onofrio of Wethersfield and Naples, FL, entered into rest on May 1, 2010, along with her husband of 58 years, Michael A. D'Onofrio, as a result of a tragic car accident. She was born in Hartford on January 21, 1928, to the late Salvatore and Carmela Giarratano. She graduated from Bulkeley High School in 1945. After graduation, she worked for seven years for the London and Lancashire Insurance Company. She was married April 14, 1952, after which she stayed home to raise her family. She retired from the Law Offices of RisCassi and Davis in Hartford after 28 years of service, whose friendship she still cherishes. She was a communicant of the Church of Incarnation, Wethersfield, where she was a member of the Women's Club. She is survived by her son, Michael D'Onofrio and his wife, Janet of Middletown; daughter, Diane Howells and her husband, Harry from Bradenton, FL; daughter Jeanne Lynch and her husband, John of Rocky Hill; and daughter, Carole Bongiolatti and her husband, William from Torrington; seven grandchildren; Nina and William Bongiolatti; Kelley and John Lynch, III; and Nicholas, Tricia and Abbey D'Onofrio. She also leaves her brothers; Antonino Giarratano of Pinellas Park, FL; and Rosario Giarratano and his wife Pearl of Wethersfield; her sisters Gloria Ierna and her husband Joseph of St. Petersburg, FL; and Margherita Masters and her husband Charles, also of St. Petersburg, FL; her brothers-in-law; Anthony Miele of Wethersfield and Philip Cohun of West Hartford. She was predeceased by her sisters, Josephine Miele, Elena Cohun, who was her maid of honor at her wedding, and Elsie Boucher; her brothers-in-law, Joseph Boucher and Michael Atwood. She also leaves 33 wonderful nieces and nephews and their spouses, many grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and many cousins. Nella was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed. Funeral services will celebrated on Saturday, (May 8, 2010), with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church. Burial will be at Village Cemetery, Wethersfield. Relatives and friends may call at D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield on Friday from 3-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society , 538 Preston Avenue, P.
