

Nicholas Gentile, 85, of Rocky Hill, beloved husband of Danuta Kudzia and the late Mary (Rapuano) Gentile, passed away peacefully on Wednesday (December 11, 2013). Born in Sant’Arsenio, province of Salerno, Italy on August 25, 1928, he was the son of the late Joseph and Caterina (Pandolfo) Gentile. In addition to his first wife and parents he was predeceased by his sister Margherita Gentile. Nick was a talented shoemaker and the owner of Pennywise Shoe Repair in Wethersfield for 35 years. A loving father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family more than anything, he will be dearly missed by his two daughters, Cathy Doyle and her husband Michael and Anna Marie Morreale and her husband Michael, all of Wethersfield and his four adored grandchildren, Mary Beth and Jonathan Doyle and Nicholas and Alexa Morreale. He will also be missed by his stepchildren, Lillianna (Kudzia) Chmura of New Britian, Misoslaw Kudzia and his wife Zuzanna of Unionville, Dariusz Kudzia and wife Dorota of Farmington along with seven step-grandchildren and three step great-granddaughters.
Funeral service will begin Monday (December 16) at 8:30 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at St. James Church, 767 Elm St., Rocky Hill. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
