

Patricia (Vignati) Smith, 83, of Wethersfield, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2020, surrounded by her family. Born on June 26, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Mary Catherine (Cilento) Vignati of Wethersfield. Patricia graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy in 1955. She went onto the University of Connecticut, graduating in 1959 where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English. She obtained a Master’s Degree in Education from Central Connecticut State University. She began her teaching career in Rocky Hill before moving to St. Augustine School in Hartford. She ended her career employed by the City of Hartford, teaching at R. J. Kinsella Magnet School.
Patricia is survived by her loving spouse of fifty-seven years, Joseph of Wethersfield; daughter Susan Smith of Wethersfield; her son David Smith (Julie) of Georgia; her daughter Ellen Smith Marshall (Scott) of Wethersfield. She is also survived by her brother Ralph Vignati (Linda) of PA. Meemah will be forever missed by her five adoring grandchildren; Matthew Marshall of NY, Delaney Marshall of Wethersfield, Braden Smith, Callie Smith and Gavin Smith, all of Georgia. She will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. Patricia was so fortunate to have so many close friends. The memories of her luncheons, the bridge group, gourmet group dinners and the endless phone calls with dear friends was one of her greatest joys. In her retirement, nothing gave her more pleasure than traveling the globe with her family, baking cookies and spending time with them, especially her grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held Wednesday, December 30, from 4-6 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. Please abide by the COVID restrictions of social distancing, face masks and guest count limit. Family and friends are invited to her Mass of Christian burial on Thursday, December 31, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield, followed by burial in Village Cemetery.
