

Raymond C. Aleksunes, 61, of Hartford, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2016, after a brave battle with cancer. Born in Hartford, CT on May 11, 1955, Raymond graduated from Bulkeley High School. Raymond worked for Metropolitan District Commission, Halprin Towing Service, Balf/Savin Bros. and CL&P. Raymond touched the lives of many people with his smile and sense of humor, and maintained both all the way till the end. Raymond enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles, rock music, playing his daily numbers, and watching old movies and TV shows. Raymond is predeceased by his father, R. Marshall Aleksunes. Raymond is survived by his loving mother, Lenore D’Ononfrio Aleksunes of Hartford, sister Marcia A. Aleksunes of Wallingford, daughters Dana Degen and Renee Aleksunes, both of Windsor Locks, a grandson, Dylan Hall, and his best friend, Roxy, his beloved German Shepherd. Raymond also leaves behind loving and supportive cousins and close friends. Raymond’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the amazing staff involved in his care and treatment at Hartford Hospital and the Helen and Harry Grey Cancer Center – Conklin Building, 2nd floor. They would particularly like to recognize Dr. Todd Alekshun and Susan Smith, RN who were Raymond’s strongest advocates. The family would also like to thank Avery Heights staff and the HH Palliative Care Team for their support and compassion. Funeral services will begin Thursday at 9:00 a.m. from the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. at St.Lawrence O’Toole Church, 494 New Britain Ave, Hartford. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Calling hour are Wednesday 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
