

Salvatore Thomas “Sal” Farinella, 78, of Wethersfield, loving husband of 56 years to Judith (Gaffney) “Judi” Farinella, unexpectedly passed away, Friday, August 25, 2023 with his family at his side. Sal was born March 27, 1945, and raised in Hartford, one of three children to the late Gaetano and Maria (Liante) Farinella. He attended Hartford schools, graduating from Bulkeley High School, Class of 1963. Sal continued his education at the University of Hartford, earning a Bachelor’s Degree, Class of 1967. He also served our Country in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Sal was a hardworking, dedicated employee at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 39 years, attaining the position of Commodity Manager. Outside of work, Sal enjoyed many activities; being an avid golfer, attending to his vegetable garden, maintaining his pool, and supporting UCONN sports. In addition, Sal was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, and a proud member of UNICO National, Wethersfield Chapter, from October 1, 1984 thru present, where he served as a Board of Director for a number of terms as well. What he enjoyed most was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Along with his wife Judi, Sal will be dearly missed and forever remembered in the hearts of his loving family. To include, his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Eva Farinella of Newington; his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and John Cloutier of Wethersfield; his sister, Salvatrice Keating of Old Saybrook; five adored grandchildren, Mark Cloutier, Matthew Cloutier, Rachel Cloutier, Ashley Farinella, and Hailey Farinella and several nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to his parents, Sal was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Carmela “Millie” and Anthony Calvo and his brother-in-law, James Keating.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the Farinella family, Friday, September 1, from 4 – 6 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 2 at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Incarnation of Christ the King Parish, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield (Attendees are asked to go directly to the Church). Interment will follow the Mass in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery (Section J), 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Bloomfield.
