

Santa 'Santina' (Vasques) Pagliano, 81, of Hartford, beloved wife of the late Francesco Pagliano, died Friday (January 11, 2008) at Hartford Hospital. She was born January 8, 1927 in Canicattini Bagni, province of Siracusa, Italy the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Paola (Lombardo) Vasques. Santa moved to the city of Siracusa at the age of one and lived there for thirty years before moving to France and later Switzerland, finally locating in the United States in 1970. She loved family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and she enjoyed cooking. She was known as a very caring person to everyone she knew. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed telling jokes. Santa is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gaetano and Shirley Pagliano of Hartford, her daughter and son-in-law, Josephine and Raffaele Tozza of Rocky Hill, a brother and sister-in-law, Giuseppe and Angelina Vasques, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Giuseppina Freddura and Anna Liistro and her husband Franco all in Italy, four grandchildren, Elisa Gionfriddo and her husband Sebby of Wethersfield, Paola Pagliano of Vernon, Francesco Pagliano and his fiancé Tina Carey of Rocky Hill, and Gaetano Pagliano, Jr. and his fiancé Anna Garcia of East Providence, RI and her pride and joy; her great grandchildren, Enrico, Francesco and Adrianna; she is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her grandson, Enrico Tozza. Funeral services will leave Tuesday January 15th at 9:15 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Luke's Church, Hartford. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
