

Serafino P. 'Sam' Cusano, 88, of Wethersfield, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2009 leaving behind Antonetta Cusano, his cherished wife of 62 years. He was born in Sepino, Campobasso, Italy and was the son of the late Giovannimario Cusano and Cristina Peluso. He served in the U.S. Navy and worked for HELCO for 36 years. After retiring Sam was proud to help his sons operate the former Frank?s Restaurant in Rocky Hill. All who knew him will remember his colorful stories, precious smile, and huge heart. He was a life-long member of the Mt. Carmel-St. Cristina Society. Sam will be dearly missed by his loving and devoted family. Besides his wife, he is survived by his six children, John Cusano of Wethersfield, with whom he made his home, Linda Grames and her husband Michael of Spencer, MA, Samuel Cusano and his wife Lisa of Rocky Hill, Stephen Cusano, Mario Cusano and Ilio Cusano and his wife Gina, all of Wethersfield. He adored his grandchildren, Juliet, Courtney, Sammy, Katherine, Jeffrey, Danielle, Stevie, Johnny, Samantha and Matt. He is also survived by his beloved friend and sister-in-law, Connie Sanelli, sisters-in-law, Dolly and Frances Rotundo, many nieces, nephews and a host of special friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Carmen Cusano, a sister, Serafina Mottillo, and brothers-in-law, Ralph Sanelli, Libero Mottillo, Anselmo and Louis Rotundo. A very special thank you to all the caring and wonderful staff and friends at Ellis Manor. Funeral service will be Monday (December 28) at 9 a.m. at the D?Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Hwy., Wethersfield. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Calling hours are Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the D?Esopo Funeral Chapel.
