Sofia (Panasiuk) Sawojka, 92, of Avon, wife of the late Osyp Sawojka, died Saturday, (April 09, 2011), at John Dempsey Hospital, Farmington. Born in Western Ukraine, she was the daughter of Anton and Anna Panasiuk and lived in Hartford for more than 30 years prior to moving to Avon. She was a seamstress by trade and worked at Capitol Swimwear, and also worked at Royal Typewriter in Hartford. Sofia loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a caring, generous person who loved to cook and bake. She is survived by a daughter, Irene Krasij and her husband Myron of Avon and a grandson Jeremy, as well as many other loving family members. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Hartford. Burial will be private in St. Michael's Cemetery, Glastonbury. There are no calling hours.
