Theresa (olshewski) Bernard

Theresa H. (Olshewski) Bernard, 89, of Wethersfield died Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at her home in Wethersfield. Born in Hartford, daughter of the late Joseph and Helena (Sherwinski) Olshewski, Theresa was affectionately known as 'Tess', 'Blondie', and 'Olivia' by her many friends and acquaintances. Theresa was employed as a supervisor in Social Services with the State of Connecticut. She was a member of the C-bid-C card club where she displayed her passion for playing cards. She was also very active in the South End Senior Citizens and the South End Senior bowling league, both in Hartford. Theresa served as a secretary at the Nathan Hale Senior Center in Wethersfield. She was very active in day trips with the seniors and enjoyed crafts. Theresa is survived by her nieces and nephews: Claire Trengrove of Manchester, Jean Bonato of Guilford, Sandra Dandurand Olshewski of CT, Carol Rideout of Shutesburg, MA, Linda Koropatkin of Farmington, Stephen Olshewski of Manchester, Pete Olshewski of Woodstock, and Richard Stanley of CT. Theresa leaves a sister-in-law, Elma Olshewski of Manchester as well as 22 great and great-great nieces and nephews. She leaves very dear friends, Terry Michaud formerly of Wethersfield, Alan and Carmen Dornan of Wethersfield, and Annamaria Martino of West Hartford. Theresa was predeceased by her brothers Joseph, William and Stanley. Theresa wanted to give special thanks to her dear sister-in-law and friend, Elma, and to her loving and caring niece Linda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday January 25, at 11 a.m. in St. Luke Church, 66 Bolton St., Hartford. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Calling hours will be prior to the Mass on Monday morning from 9-10 a.m, at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield.
