

Vanda (Malatesta) Scavetta, 76, of Berlin and formerly of Newington, beloved wife of the late James J. Scavetta, passed away on Thursday (June 12, 2008). She was born on September 28, 1931 in Pratola Peligna, province of Aquila, Italy and was the daughter of the late Natele and Angelina (Cavallaro) Malatesta. Vanda worked at the Wiremold Co. for over 25 years prior to her retirement. She belonged to the Newington Senior Center and loved to play cards with her friends at Orchard Ridge. She also loved to cook, but her greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Paul vanNoort of Plainville; two grandchildren, Danielle Butzgy and her husband Karl of Oakdale and Joseph James 'JJ' Miceli of Waterford; two great-grandchildren, Jocelyn Kelley and Isabella Butzgy; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends and her adopted son, Abbas Danesh and his family of Waterford. Funeral services will leave Monday, June 16 at 9:15 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Spirit Church, 183 Church St, Newington. Burial will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
