

Wanda (Lach) Bedard, 91 of Hartford, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 12, 2018 at the Water’s Edge Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Middletown CT, where she lived for the past 5 years. She was born in Hartford, CT on December 6, 1926 and lived there most of her life. She was the loving wife of 40 years to the late Paul H. Bedard who passed away 25 years ago on March 18, 1993. She was the daughter of the late Bruno Lach and Josephine (Mierszwinski) Lach and had ten siblings who she considered as much close friends as they were her family. She graduated from Hartford Public High School and worked for the Travelers Insurance Company until her marriage in 1953. Paul and Wanda married, and raised their five children in a loving and stable home. Wanda was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, who enjoyed crafts, cooking, and taking care of her home and family. She was also a very talented seamstress, painter, and crafts person making homemade dolls, holiday decorations, and ceramics, many of which her children proudly display in their homes today. Wanda was a devout catholic and a faithful parishioner of St. Luke’s parish in Hartford and enjoyed sharing Sunday afternoons with her brothers and sisters and watching and rooting for the Boston Red Sox. She lovingly cared for her husband during a long illness and took it upon herself to learn to drive at age 68 after his passing. She continued her life as a widow for 25 years continuing to care for her home, sharing her motherly wisdom with her children, and caring for her 13 grandchildren. She also enjoyed time spent with her brothers and sisters, shopping, taking day trips, and visiting family. Wanda is survived by three of her five children, her son and daughter-in -law Michael and Kelly Bedard of Holland, MA, son and daughter-in-law Ken and Dee Bedard of South Glastonbury, daughter and son-in-law Karen and Joseph Perrelli of Berlin. She is also survived by her son-in-law Victor Milione of West Newton, MA, and daughter-in-law Sharlene Bedard of Glastonbury, as well as two sisters, Irene Stevens of Clearwater FL and Gloria Frickman of Tampa FL. She is also survived by her 13 loving grandchildren, Paul, Scott, Joyce, Danielle, Nicole, Mike, Lauren, Ryan, Andy, Kate, Nick, Julia, and Angela who affectionately called her “Nana”, as well as by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Steven Bedard of Glastonbury, and daughter Janet Milione, both who lost long and courageous battles with cancer. Funeral Service will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, March 16th at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 55 Charter Oak Avenue, Hartford. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Calling hours will be Thursday, 5-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
