

Wilfred J. DeLude Jr., “Bill”, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2018 after a short illness. Born on March 31, 1940 in Hartford, he was the son of the late Wilfred DeLude, Sr. and Leona (Morrissette) DeLude. Bill lived in Hartford until he relocated with his family to Newington in 1977 and lived there until moving to Windsor 10 years ago. He served proudly in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Bill worked as a meat cutter for almost 35 years at Colonial Beef Wholesale and Regal Beef, both located in Hartford. In the few years before his retirement, he was the foreman of both companies. Bill was an active member of the UCFW union for many years, and he served as a shop steward for quite some time. For anyone who knew him, they knew how much Bill loved hiking and mountain climbing, primarily winter ice climbing with his favorite location being the Presidential Range in New Hampshire. He also always loved music, having gone to lots of concerts during his time with his wife Merry. He also enjoyed his weekly trips to Misquamicut with Merry, Vic and Tammy. Bill is survived by his wife, Merry (Pantages) DeLude of Windsor; his daughter, Kristine (DeLude) Sirotnak and her husband Lee of Burlington and his two adored grandchildren, Kyle Sirotnak and Nicole Sirotnak, both of Burlington. In addition, he leaves his brother-in-law, Bill Pantages of West Hartford; his nephews, Alex and Jason Pantages along with their families; his sisters-in-law, Penny Pantages of Carrolton, Texas, Eileen Tully Matthews of Newington, Margaret Tully of Hartford; nephews, Patrick Tully and his family of East Haven, Bryan Szewc and his family, also of East Haven; his brother, Roy DeLude, Sr. of Florida and nephews, Roy Jr. of Bristol and Michael DeLude of West Hartford and his brother-in-law, Richard Armelin of Ellington. Bill was predeceased his beloved son, James DeLude; his sister, Leona DeLude Armelin and his former wife, M. Christine (Tully) DeLude.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday (March 9) at 10 a.m. at the Parish of the Annunciation (Holy Spirit Church), 183 Church Street, Newington. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
