

William DeHaven Cody, 78, of Southington, passed away on Thursday (September 4, 2014). Born in Hartford on January 12, 1936, he was the son of the late Edward and Katherine (Buck) Cody. William grew up in Wethersfield and graduated from Wethersfield High School and then Hobart College in New York, where he played on the lacrosse team and was captain of the varsity soccer team. He worked for the Continental Insurance Company for his entire career. William loved being outdoors working in the yard, gardening and maintaining the pool for others to enjoy. He played piano and saxophone and also loved dogs. He spent many happy summers at his parents’ family cottage in Indiantown, Old Saybrook enjoying the beautiful beaches. A loving father and grandfather, William will be dearly missed by his four daughters, Karen Misiag of Nashua, NH, Pamela Noone of Lake Hopatcong, NJ, Donna Fricchione of Sparta, NJ and Lee Ann Blackshear of Tampa, FL and his eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Winthrop Buck Cody of Naples, FL and his devoted companion of more than 12 years, Joanne Hemme and her family, Gretchen, Kirsten and Kurt.
Funeral services will be Monday (September 8) at 10 a.m. at the James T. Pratt Funeral Service, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
