Ralph Emmet Wine

He was born on July 11, 1918 in Mt. Sidney and was the son of the late Emmet Charles and Effie Estella Cline Wine.

Ralph graduated from Mt. Sidney High School and from Bridgewater College in 1944. He taught school and drove the school bus in Augusta County, and for a few years worked for N & W Railroad while living in Roanoke. He was also Office Manager at Augusta Co-Op for 30 years until retiring in 1983. Mr. Wine was a cattle farmer and lived the majority of his life in Mt. Sidney; but wintered in Florida. He was a member of the Lebanon Church of the Brethren.

On October 28, 1944 he married the former Margaret J. Early, who preceded him in death on December 20, 2006.

He is survived by a daughter, Linda W. White and husband, Gordon, of Mt. Sidney and Lorida, Florida; a son, Stephen E. Wine of Mt. Sidney; grandchildren, Cindy White Weekly and husband, Allen, David Gordon White, Beth White Shifflett and Amy White Knott and husband, John David; great-grandchildren, Natasha Weekly Shaikh and husband, Shahroze, Cassandra Kay Weekly, Andrew Jordan Weekly, Johnathan David Weekly, Gabriel David White, Christine Noel White, Heather Alexis Knott and Ashley Rose Knott; great-great-grandchild, Safina A. Shaikh; brothers and sisters, Tracy David Wine of Bridgewater Home, Alma Wine Landes, Audrey Wine Bosserman and Stanley Malcom Wine, all of Mt. Sidney.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by sisters, Leda Ruth Wine and Leona Wine Link.

The family will receive friends 6-8:00 pm, Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Weyers Cave.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 pm, Friday, October 4, 2013 at Lebanon Church of the Brethren with Rev. Jimmy R. Ross officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
