
Barr, Gordon Emerson – 79, passed away suddenly Tuesday July 13, 2010 at home. Born in Weaver Settlement, Gordon was a son of the late William and Laura (Lewis) Barr. Gordon was a mink rancher for 40 years. He owned and operated Barr’s Polaris and later Barr’s Small Engine Service for 30 years. Gordon was a snowmobile enthusiast for many years. He enjoyed racing snowmobiles at a competitive level, winning the Maritime Open Championship in drag racing. Gordon had a keen interest in forestry and maintaining his wood lots. He enjoyed nature and was an avid hunter. Gordon was a member and supporter of Weaver Settlement Cemetery Group, and a charter member of the Weymouth Church of Christ. Gordon is survived by his wife Hilda (Hill); sisters Annie Dennison, Weaver Settlement; Della Prime, Weymouth; Dora Bell, Weymouth; brothers Lester Barr, Weaver Settlement; and Rev. Sendel Barr, USA; nephew Clarence Prime; niece Shanna Prime both of Weymouth. He was predeceased by an infant sister, Jean. Visitation 7-9pm Thursday July 15th in Jayne’s Funeral Home, (245-2525) Weymouth North. Funeral service will be held 11am Friday July 16th in Weymouth Church of Christ, Rev. David Cawley presiding. Interment in Weymouth Church of Christ Cemetery.
